49th Academy Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium

This year the American Academy for Orthotists and Prosthetists held its annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 1-4, 2023. The yearly conference brings individuals from across the globe to collaborate and explore new ideas from practitioners to researchers. Industry attendees promote the latest technology for the profession to improve the lives of many. There were several highlights during the meeting.

Fellow with Distinction: 

I was awarded the Fellow with Distinction, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an Academy member. Years of dedicated service above and beyond in leadership and presentation of concepts are among the reasons for this award.

Personal and Professional Success through effective communication:

Effective communication strategies help us navigate our relationships by using and discussing practical tools, practical skills, and resources for improved communication outcomes. 

Rising Professionals: Mock interviews for young professionals:

This session helped young students prepare for residency after school by experiencing an interview session and receiving feedback on ways to improve.  

Lessons learned: What schools do not teach about complex interpersonal relationships:

My participation in this session included discussing complex interactions with patients that students must be aware of in the work environment to protect themselves.
